MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING DURING STUDY
ERASMUS +BIP

The BIP brought together students from different countries to explore mental health and well-being during study through an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach. Combining online preparatory activities with an intensive on-site programme, participants examined factors influencing students’ mental health, psychological resilience, emotional intelligence, stress management, and preventive approaches that support well-being in higher education. Through lectures, workshops, and group activities, students gained a deeper understanding of contemporary mental health challenges faced by young people and explored strategies for promoting healthy lifestyles and positive coping mechanisms.

The programme addressed a wide range of topics, including mental well-being in higher education, mindfulness and spirituality, emotional intelligence, common health disorders among young people, and coping with stress in clinical and academic environments. Interactive workshops enabled participants to develop practical skills for recognising and managing stress, anxiety, and overthinking, while discussions and collaborative activities encouraged reflection on personal and professional approaches to mental health promotion.

Experiential learning formed an important part of the programme. Students participated in nature-based activities such as a guided walk through the forest and forest therapy sessions, explored innovative approaches to health promotion in a virtual reality environment, and visited the University Medical Centre Maribor, Department of Psychiatry, as well as the Social Welfare Institution Hrastovec. The programme concluded with student poster and presentation sessions, providing an opportunity to share insights and develop recommendations related to mental health and well-being during study.
