EU ENERGY LAW: INTERNAL MARKET AND COMPETITION, REGULATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
ERASMUS +BIP

The BIP brought together students from different European countries to explore the legal, regulatory, economic, and sustainability dimensions of the energy sector. Through a combination of online and on-site activities, participants examined key topics in EU energy law, including the internal energy market, competition, regulation, and sustainable development. Designed for both law students and students from related disciplines, the programme provided an accessible introduction to energy law while highlighting its growing importance in addressing contemporary societal, economic, and environmental challenges.

The programme combined lectures, individual study, workshops, and collaborative discussions, enabling participants to engage with complex legal and policy issues from both disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives. Guided by academic experts, legal practitioners, judges, regulatory authorities, and energy sector professionals, students explored real cases from the Court of Justice of the European Union, analysed current developments in the energy sector, and considered future regulatory and policy scenarios. As part of the programme, participants also prepared papers on selected topics and developed their ability to critically evaluate challenges facing the European energy market.

Academic activities were complemented by study visits and social events that connected theoretical knowledge with practical experience. A highlight of the programme was the visit to the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, where students gained insight into the operation and future role of nuclear energy within the European energy transition. Additional excursions and networking activities encouraged intercultural exchange and discussion, while providing participants with a deeper understanding of the complexity of modern energy systems and the legal frameworks that shape them.
