SLOVENŠČINA IN SLOVANSKI JEZIKI NA PRVI POGLED/SLOVENE AND SLAVIC LANGUAGES AT FIRST SIGHT
CEEPUS

The summer school brought together 55 students from ten European countries to explore the Slovenian language and the wider Slavic linguistic and cultural context. Designed primarily for students of Slovene and Slavic studies, the programme provided an intensive learning experience focused on developing language skills and deepening knowledge of Slovenian language, literature, and culture. Participants engaged with Slovenian in an international academic environment while also gaining insights into other Slavic languages and their cultural backgrounds.

The programme combined practical language instruction with academic lectures and specialised workshops. Morning sessions focused on phonetics, language exercises, and conversation in Slovenian, while afternoon activities included lectures as well as translation, interpreting, and language workshops. Through these activities, students strengthened their linguistic competences, improved their communication skills, and explored various approaches to studying and teaching Slavic languages.

Academic activities were complemented by a rich cultural programme that enabled participants to experience Slovenian culture beyond the classroom. Guided tours of Maribor, visits to cultural institutions, a literary evening, a Slovenian film screening, a hike to Piramida Hill, and a full-day study excursion provided opportunities to connect language learning with cultural heritage and contemporary Slovenian society. The programme offered students an immersive environment in which language, literature, and culture were explored as interconnected aspects of the Slovene and Slavic world.
