More about the CEEPUS TRANS Network and Summer Academy:

The title of the TRANS network is TRANSkulturelle Kommunikation und TRANSlation (TRANScultural Communication and TRANSlation) and the Summer Academy TRANS celebrates this year the 10th Anniversary! Our research focuses on translation studies, especially in the field of the German and English language, but also including other languages. The initiative to establish this CEEPUS network emerged from the awareness of the need to promote translation studies in the Central and South-East Europe. Translation Studies is a relatively young scientific field, which has been developing as an independent research field at European universities for the last 50 years. Multilingual communication becomes increasingly important in the contemporary globalised world, which promotes multilingualism and stresses the importance of translation and interpretation as a means of intercultural mediation. Every European citizen should be able to express himself/herself in his/her own language, thus consolidating his/her identity and contributing to the multicultural and multilingual Europe. The main objectives of the TRANS network are:

  • To stress the importance of translation studies in the context of contemporary multilingual European society, as well as to promote good relations among neighbouring countries
  • To organise summer schools and translation workshops in cooperation with DGTRAD-EP
  • To promote mobility of students and teachers within the Central and South-East Europe
  • To enable and promote cooperation in the higher education area between the countries of Central and South-East Europe
  • To promote respectful attitude for languages with low diffusion through education and mobility of students and teachers

The summer school is organised under the CEEPUS programme. Read more about financial support here and contact your International Relations Office at your home university.
