The Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor is organising an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme “Tasting Trails”, which will take place in Brežice, Slovenia.

The “Tasting Trails” programme is an innovative blended learning initiative focused on cultural heritage tourism. Designed to transform students into skilled experience designers and tour guides, the program combines a comprehensive four-week online preparation phase with an intensive six-day on-site mobility in Slovenia. Participants will embark on a holistic educational journey in cultural and culinary tourism, mastering essential skills and knowledge in the field.

Virtual Preparation Phase

The online phase introduces participants to specialised modules that cover key aspects of tourism experience design.

Topics include:

  • Principles of experience design
  • Social media storytelling
  • Narrative construction
  • Tour guiding techniques
  • Sustainable tourism strategies

Over four weeks, participants will engage in two weekly two-hour sessions led by university instructors. This ensures a diverse and in-depth learning experience, blending theoretical foundations with interactive discussions.

On-Site Mobility Phase: 17 March–22 March 2025

The intensive five-day mobility in Slovenia will provide hands-on, immersive experiences.

Activities include:

  • Workshops and interactive storytelling sessions
  • Site explorations at culturally significant locations, such as Grad Brežice
  • Visits to culinary heritage sites, including the Reset Brewery
  • Development of thematic tourism routes and group project collaboration
  • Participants will actively engage with local heritage, exploring how historical and culinary traditions are integrated into tourism experiences. These experiences will culminate in practical applications of learned concepts through guided project work.
