GREEN HACKATHON – ROOT TO FORK: CUTTING THE MIDDLEMAN FOR A GREENER FUTURE
CEEPUS

The Green Hackathon was an interdisciplinary innovation event organised to address sustainability challenges through student creativity and teamwork. It took place from 3 to 6 June 2025 at the Faculty of Logistics at the University of Maribor. Students from different study fields collaborated in mixed teams to develop practical and innovative solutions related to environmental protection, green technologies, and sustainable development.

During the hackathon, participants worked under the guidance of mentors from academia and practice, following a structured problem-solving approach that included idea development, prototyping, and final presentations. The event strengthened students’ transversal skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and communication, while also raising awareness of sustainability issues.

The hackathon successfully connected the university with external partners and promoted green values within the academic community. Its results demonstrated the potential of student-driven innovation to contribute to real-world environmental and societal challenges.
