The Department of Translation Studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor, organized the 12th traditional translation academy TRANS 2025 from 1 to 8 September 2025. This year’s academy focused on translation in the context of sustainable development. The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the head of the academy, representatives responsible for international activities and promotion at the faculty, and a representative of the Directorate-General for Translation at the European Parliament.
The translation week was organized in cooperation with the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Parliament and their translators within the CEEPUS programme. The Directorate-General has been a long-standing strategic partner, regularly accepting students from the Translation programme for study visits. September is also significant as it marks the anniversary of multilingualism, with International Translation Day celebrated on 30 September.
The programme brought together 37 participants from 11 countries. It combined theoretical and practical components, including lectures and various translation workshops. In addition to academic activities, participants took part in cultural and social events such as a city tour, a visit to the Pyramid, the Botanical Garden, and an excursion to Ljubljana. These activities contributed to intercultural exchange and strengthened collaboration among participants.
